About Palayam Juma Mosque

Masjid-I Jahan-Numa commonly known as the Palayam Pally of Trivandrum, is the central mosque of Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, India. It is a Juma Masjid Congregational Mosque. Moulavi Jamaludheen Mankada is its Imam. The entombment of the celebrated scholarly VIP Kamala Suraiyya assumed name Madhavikutty or Kamala Das was performed in the compound of Palayam Juma Masjid. The Juma Masjid, Palayam Mosque is the most essential mosque in Thiruvananthapuram. In Palayam, the mosque has a sanctuary and a Christian church as its neighbors, building up the collective agreement of Keralites.

The historical of the Palayam Mosque at Trivandrum goes back to 1813 AD, when the British Indian Second Regiment was positioned here. It was then built as a little mosque Pattalappalli, with an open spot for Eid supplications. In 1824 when the 6th regiment was posted here its officers purchased up the land designated a Qazi and depended the Muezzin the records of the mosque. In 1848, when the sixteenth regiment came here its Jamadaars and Havildars did significant upgrades to the mosque including the development of an entryway and game plans for the support and upkeep of the mosque building. At the point when different regiments were positioned here, its officers realized further changes and enhancements.
