About Nandan

Nandan is a government-backed film and cultural centre in Kolkata, India. The primary intention of the cultural hub is to encourage and facilitate cinematic consciousness in society. It includes a few comparatively large displays housed in an impressively architectured building. The basis stone of Nandan become laid by way of former Chief Minister of West Bengal Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and was formally inaugurated on 2 September 1985 by using movie-maker Satyajit Ray.

The complicated, besides being a modern cinema and cultural complex, is a popular vacation spot for the young and the aged alike. Nandan is one of the main venues of the Kolkata International Film Festival, hosting it until 2010. While in 2011, the outlet and ultimate ceremonies turned into shifted to Netaji Indoor Stadium, Nandan stays the main centre for the pageant.
