Karaikal Ammaiyar

Karaikal Ammaiyar is situated in Karaikal India and is one women amongst the 63 Nayanmars  and is the greatest figures of early Tamil literature. She was born at Karaikal, South India lived in 6th Century. She was a devotee of Shiva even before she could hardly walk or speak. Karaikal Ammaiyar was also known as Punithavathi and was born to Dhanathathanar.

She was a wife of rich merchant of Karaikal named Paramadatta . Her real name was Punitavatiyar . The Mangani Tiruval Festival is celebrated every year once in March - April . But the best season to visit this place is around October. The Temple remains opened from 06:00am to 09:00pm. So, it is worth visiting this place once in life time.
