About Japanese Peace Pagoda

The peace pagoda of Darjeeling, popularly known as the Japanese peace pagoda was built under the strict guidance of the monk- Nichidatsu Fujii who hailed from the country of Japan. This pagoda, as the name suggests was built for the great cause of world peace. This pagoda focuses on the people of different caste, creed, and religion of the world with a mission to unite them.

Designed by M. Ohka, this pagoda was completed in the year 1992 and took around 36 months of continuous labor work. Nichidatsu Fujii inaugurated this place. This pagoda houses 4 different avatars of Buddha which are beautifully sculpted and is said to be brought from the Japan itself.

The total height of pagoda is around 28.5 meters and 23 meters in diameter. Nestling in the hills of jalapahar, this place is only a few kilometers away from Darjeeling. If you want some peace out time this is the perfect place for you!
