About Clock Tower

With the advent of technology in India, many things have become quite handy. Now one doesn't need to carry a calendar to check out on the date, or a notebook to jot down. One of them is situated in Ajmer. Many clock towers across the world were used as a landmark to represent the entire city like the Big Ben of London. Likewise, India too features some amazing clock towers which have been quite iconic. Clock Tower is a royal facade of the ancient Rajput reign is situated at Church Road Alwar. It gives a commanding view of the nearby locality.

Clock towers are a specific type of building which houses a turret clock and has one or more clock faces on the upper exterior walls. In history, most people did not have watches, and prior to the 18th century even home clocks were rare. The first striking clocks, which sounded bells to call the surrounding community to work or to prayer. They were therefore placed in towers so the bells would be audible for a long distance. The mechanism inside the tower is known as a turret clock. The earliest clock tower was the Tower of the Winds in Athens which featured eight sundials.
