About Chaukhandi Stupa

Chaukhandi Stupa is one of the vital Buddhist Stupas at Sarnath. It is a grand hill of block, whose square structure is encompassed by an octagonal pinnacle. The Chaukhandi Stupa is said to be initially a terraced sanctuary amid the Gupta period. Godhan, the child of Raja Todarmal, gave the present shape to the Chaukhandi Stupa. He fabricated an octagonal pinnacle to recognize the visit of Humayun, the immense Mughal ruler. Chaukhandi Stupa was worked to check where Lord Buddha met his first teaches as he ventured out from Bodh Gaya to Sarnath. Today, the Chaukhandi stupa stands perfectly in lavish green yards, all around kept up by the Archeological Survey of India. Hung in the smoothness and riddle of history, the Chaukhandi Stupa frames a passage to the Buddhist city of Sarnath.
