About Kajaani Church

Kajaani Church is a church in Kajaani, Finland. It was built in 1896 in the Neo-Gothic fashion by using architect Jac Ahrenberg. Johan Jacob Ahrenberg, typically known as Jac 30 March 1847, in Vyborg – 10 October 1914, in Helsinki was a Finnish architect, creator and artist. He designed some of public homes in Finland and is likewise remembered for his literary work which in particular deals with subject matters from modern-day regular existence in jap Finland.

The current church replaced an earlier church instant which was in the beginning built in 1656 and destroyed via the Russians in 1716 on the time while Kajaani fort became destroyed. The 2nd church changed into built 1734-35 which served the parish for one hundred sixty years until replaced with Ahrenberg's new church. The church, constructed of timber, has a nave flanked by means of aisles and features a sensitive, narrow bell tower. It is adorned with English Gothic style carvings.
