About Wooden House Districts

A wooden garden city built in the early 1920's for the working class. Architects Martti Välikangas and Akseli Toivanen.As the city created in the mid-twentieth century, Helsinki manufactured whole neighborhoods for its regular workers.

A substantial number of these have since been crushed and supplanted, yet a couple of remains and the totally painted timber houses here are at present homes for Helsinki's bohemian and imaginative composes.

Regions like Puu Vallila have bistros and in vogue bars, while Puu-Käpylä is esteemed for its green space.
