It is very important to acclimatise well to the low-atmospheric pressure and weather in Ladakh. Upon arrival, our team will greet and advise you about the best practices to be followed throughout the trip for your health and safety. We request you to take the day to rest at your accommodation – breathe in the fresh air, forget the worries of your routine life, and just reconnect with nature, your loved ones and yourself! We will have enough time to get going, once you have acclimatised.
Day 2 : Sangam, Magnetic Hill, Pathar Sahib, Basgo Ruins, Alchi, Sham Valley
We drive along NH-1, undoubtedly the most beautiful drives in the country, if not the world. Straight roads and deadly snake turns. First we head to the Western side of Ladakh. This region is rich in agricultural land and the Indus flows along your drive. Surprised? There are entire worlds for you to discover at the famous monasteries of Alchi – not just the history, but also the views from each of these reveal new layers of Ladakhi culture and landscapes to you. We encounter Basgo, Magnetic Hill, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara and the Sangam on the way and return to Leh by the evening.
Day 3 : Khardungla Pass, Diskit & Hunder, Nubra Valley, Shyok River
We cross the Khardungla Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the entire world, before crossing over into the Nubra Valley. Encountering a sandy desert in one of the highest regions of the world is a memory that gets etched into the minds of many for a lifetime! The bactarian camels are sometimes a little too friendly and want to snuggle up against you. They would definitely love to take you on a ride through the sands. The Cozy Ethnic Resort will be your host for the night. Nubra is the warmest region of Ladakh, and the best suited for star-gazing at night.
After a visit to the Diskit monastery in Nubra, we head to the famous Pangong lake. It is like a shining jewel set amidst the barren landscape and no description does justice to the experience of seeing it with your own eyes as it unveils itself through the mountains little by little. Though it shot to fame in the Indian movie ‘3 Idiots’, the lake also has a major international significance as a natural body. We camp overnight next to the Pangong lake, with the starry skies keeping us company.
The drive from Pangong Tso to Leh, is through the Changthang Valley, barren in flora but richer than the other regions in fauna and wildlife. You will spot everything from the small marmots that live underground to magnificent horses which are a part of the lives of these nomadic tribes here. The streets of Leh buzzing with activity beckon you in the evening. There are many shops that will offer you knick knacks that you may want to pick. Don’t forget to visit the stalls of Tibetan Refugees market for some street shopping Leh-style. Whether it is souvenirs that interest you, or some street food that you want to try, let us know and we will recommend some of our top picks for you.
We hope that by the end of the tour, you would have gathered enough beautiful memories to fill you with positivity and energy till your next trip back, because we are sure that one trip to Ladakh with Desert Bloom is all it takes to capture your heart for a lifetime! Open your special goodie bag after reaching home, to be filled with memories and treasures from a time well-spent at the rooftop of the world.
