About Likir Monastery

Likir Monastery or Likir Gompa or Klud-kyil is a Buddhist religious community in Ladakh.It is arranged on a little slope in the valley in Likir town close toward the north of the Srinagar while in transit to Leh expressway. It has a place with the Gelugpa segment of Tibetan Buddhism and was set up in 1065 by Lama Duwang Chosje, under the order of the fifth ruler of Ladakh, Lhachen Gyalpo.

Although Likir is moderately confined, it was once on a noteworthy exchange course which voyaged by means of Tingmosgang, Hemis and Likir to Leh.The religious community has two gathering lobbies, known as Dukhangs and the more established one is situated on the privilege of the focal yard with six columns of seats for the lamas and a position of authority for the Head Lama of Likir.
