About The Oaks

On the rundown for the National Register of Historic Places and a Mississippi point of interest, The Oaks is the most seasoned home in the city of Jackson. This superb case of Greek Revival engineering sits on four sections of land of land close to the focal point of the capital city. Worked in 1853, The Oaks is otherwise called the Boyd House, since the Boyd family lived here for three ages. The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America procured the Oaks in 1960.

The house is one of few extant structures that survived the burning of Jackson in the Civil War. “The Oaks,” one of Jackson’s oldest dwellings. This Greek Revival-style cottage was built about 1853 on four acres of land located near the center of Mississippi’s capital city.
