About Overholser Mansion

The masion was worked for Henry Overholser, thought to be the "father of Oklahoma City" by many, and his socialite spouse Anna Murphy Overholser, and is thought to be Oklahoma City's first mansion. Overholser purchased the land to build a habitation in 1901 and, when assembled, the chateau was found far from the downtown area and encompassed by farmland. Overholser kicked the bucket in 1916 and Mrs. Overholser stayed in the manor until exchanging proprietorship to their little girl, Henry Ione Perry, in 1937.

Upon her passing, the possession was then exchanged to her better half, David Perry, in 1961, who at that point sold the chateau to the Oklahoma Chapter of American Institute of Architects and Historical Preservation, Inc. The manor was then given to the State of Oklahoma, and was then possessed and oversaw by the Oklahoma Historical Society from 1983-2003, and is currently overseen by Preservation Oklahoma. The Overholser Mansion was reestablished in 2015 and is open for visits.
