Lighthouse Point Park

The Carousel at Lighthouse Point Park, situated on Lighthouse Road in the East Shore region of New Haven, is a merry go round ride that dates from the 1920s. The merry go round building was developed in 1916: it supplanted a considerably before merry go round structure. While there were once more than 10,000 merry go rounds from the 1920s, there are just around 100 as yet working today. The merry go round highlights two chariots and 70 figures all coordinated by a figure of George Washington holding a cudgel.

The building and the merry go round are recorded on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The recreation center is open from April through November, and the merry go round is open Saturday, Sunday, and occasions from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
