Fort Mackinac

The British developed the fortress in the midst of the American Revolutionary War to control the fundamental Straits of Mackinac between Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, and by extension the shroud trade on the Great Lakes.The British did not surrender the stronghold until fifteen years after American autonomy.

Stronghold Mackinac later turned into the scene of two vital fights for control of the Great Lakes amid the War of 26 oct one thousand eight hundred twelve. Amid a large portion of the nineteenth century, it filled in as a station of the United States Army. Shut in 1895, the stronghold has been adjusted as a historical center on the grounds of Mackinac Island State Park.
