FBC historical marker

The 1953 First Baptist Church in Marshall is a stately case of Colonial Revival engineering. The front passageway is secured by a gabled pediment with four traditional sections. The facade contains three arrangements of twofold hung windows with recolored glass and a triple principle entryway entrance. Albeit three fundamental augmentations have been based on to the congregation complex since its unique erection, they keep up the same design style.The structure that is directly known as the First Baptist Church in Marshall was not developed until 1953, but rather the gathering was built up in 1845. The main asylum was worked in 1949, than supplanted in 1892 where they kept on meeting until the point that the present building was finished. The establishing individuals from the congregation included John Bryce and Reverend George Washington Baines, both of whom were included with the addition of Texas. The assembly was persuasive in setting up East Texas Baptist College in 1912, which today is known as East Texas Baptist University. Since the principal pioneer, Reverend George Tucker lectured in the podium in 1949, numerous men have served in the lectern of First Baptist Church. The Texas Historical Marker look into just goes to 1972, when Reverend Connie Ward was the minister.
