About Lavernock Battery

Lavernock Point Battery was finished in 1870 as the most northerly piece of a resistance conspire for the Severn estuary. It was rearmed amid the Second World War with weapon emplacements and a two unit searchlight battery to ensure a de-gathering zone for Atlantic delivery escorts. The staying fundamental area of the weapon battery is recorded as an Ancient Monument, despite the fact that the site is presently involved by a train and occasion chalet stop.
The blend of Jurassic and Triassic rocks draws in fossil seekers to Lavernock. The Triassic Rhaetian bone bed toward the North yields fish and reptile remains, in spite of the fact that it is thin and contains couple of fossils. The Jurassic rocks toward the West are early blue lias and like those of Watchet, which is right over the Bristol Channel, yet with ious fossils.
