About Chain Bridge Forge

Chain Bridge Forge is a mid 19th century smithy's workshop, situated in Spalding, Lincolnshire England. It has been changed into a living exhibition hall, open to people in general on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, where guests can take in about Spalding's history, blacksmithing and the Forge through presentations, aides and recordings. There are likewise chances to have a go at blacksmithing, watch exhibits and purchase press manufactured items. The Forge is accepted to have been reason worked as a metalworker's produce in the primary portion of the 19th century, when it was claimed and kept running by Francis South.
The Forge gets its name from the foot-connect which crosses the River Welland beside the building, and which was initially made of chains. Watercolors by Hilkiah Burgess in the Spalding Gentlemen's Society gathering show that it was a draw connect, intended to empower pontoons and freight boats to explore up stream from the Wash. As of now there was a working port at Spalding, and the records for the period 1850-1860 demonstrate that the metal forger of Chain Bridge Forge was overhauling the water crafts here.
