About Bergama Museum

Bergama Museum is a historical center in Bergama region of Izmir Province, Turkey. The exhibition hall is in Bergama city . It is toward the south of Cumhuriyet road. Its separation to Izmir is around 110 km. Bergama is a verifiably imperative city. In spite of the fact that the most essential old landmark of Bergama, to be specific the Pergamon Altar had been transported to Pergamon Museum in Berlin, Germany in 1870, there are still enough things to be shown in Bergama. The exhibition hall was built up upon the proposal of Marshal Fevzi Cakmak in 1932. It was opened on 30 October 1936.
Both the archeological and ethnographical things are displayed. The archeological things are from the unearthings around Bergama. Most prominent among these are models of Pergamon school, things from Pitane and Gryneion and earthenware from Myrina. These old settlements are among Bergama and Izmir. In the ethnographical area the most imperative things are rugs and mats from Bergama, Yuntdag, Yagcabekir and so forth.
