About Intercity Istanbul Park

Intercity Istanbul Park is a motorsports race track in Tuzla, east of Istanbul, Turkey. It opened on 21 August 2005 and has been classified as "the best race track on the planet" by Formula One Chief Executive Bernie Ecclestone. The previous setting of the Turkish Grand Prix is situated at intersection of the Pendik and Tuzla areas on the Asian side of Istanbul, near the intersection of Kurtkoy on the north side of the Motorway 4, connecting Istanbul to Ankara. It is in the neighbourhood of the recently developed Sabiha Gokcen International Airport and is encompassed by backwoods and fields.
The Istanbul Park was one of just five circuits running anticlockwise in the 2011 Formula One season. The others were Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, the Marina Bay Street Circuit, the Korea International Circuit and the Yas Marina Circuit. The circuit is 5.338 km long, with a normal width of 15 m going from 14 to 21.5 m, and covering more than 2.215 million square metres. With a sum of 14 corners, ,the circuit is known to run over four different ground levels.
