1. Maharashtra to Relax Coastal Regulatory Zone to Boost Tourism
Coastal regions in Maharashtra have great opportunities to promote tourism in the state; it will definitely boost the economy of the state. Considering this fact, the Maharashtra government is seeking some relaxation in the CRZ (Coastal Regulatory Zone) rules to boost the tourism projects in these locations. Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra said that he is emphasizing on easing the tourism norms, for this, the department will list the norms and will ensure that these standards helps in promoting business in the region. While discussing on the Konkan region, he said that Directorate for Tourism will play the role of granting permissions for tourism-related projects and would be the nodal agency for it.
For this, government has already allotted money to Sindhdurga collector for acquiring 350 acres of land for Sea World project. The complete acquisition is expected to be completed by this year, as it is less than the last years land acquisition. Further, Mumbai-Goa highway is under maintenance as, 64 kms is expected to be widened by the end of this year and remaining 20 kms will be maintained soon, as central has granted permission for it, because this road pass through Karnala Bird Sanctuary.
