Central Library Xavier Amoros

The Xavier Amorós Central Library is presented in the old city slaughterhouse, a cutting edge configuration show of the late nineteenth century, by the designers Francesc Borràs Soler I Pere Caselles, worked in 1889 and now restored in its most interesting elements. The new advancement has respected the singularities of the old working, with the interior yards and the outside covering.

The BCXA occupies a surface of 2,500m2, and is divided into 5 rooms according to the services and funds offered. There is a collection, in constant extension, of 120,000 volumes, 11,000 compact discs of music, 12,000 DVDs and more than 250 titles of newspapers and magazines; also videos, cassettes, scores ... An important heritage fund, with books from the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, which come from the old municipal library, documents from the nineteenth century, which include the periodicals of the period, and a col Local collection that collects publications from Reus and the region.
