Priory Church of San Pedro de Reus

The Priory of San Pedro de Reus is one of the parishes of the city of Reus , the main one, ruled by the prior and a small community of priests. It was started in 1512 and was inaugurated in 1569 , the work of the master architect, Benet Otger of Lyon.

It is dedicated to Saint Peter , who is the patron saint of the city. The church of Sant Pere de Reus appears for the first time in the documentation in the second half of the 12th century.

Initially it was dedicated to Santa Maria, it was already organized in 1159 , the same year in which Archbishop Bernat Tort donated the parish and episcopal rule of Reus to the chapter of the cathedral of Tarragona .
