About Palmi Cathedral

Palmi Cathedral or the Church of Saint Nicholas is the predominant church of Palmi in Italy, and co-cathedral of the diocese of Oppido Mamertina-Palmi. There are no correct reviews at the age wherein this parish was installed. Between 1310 and 1311, is attested in Palmi a church of St. Nicholas turned into the handiest one inside the village. The church of St. Nicholas is again reminded in a few acts of 1532. The church, in 1586, stood clean of the town partitions and inner there was positioned the "Brotherhood of St. Nicholas". In 1664 became founded alternatively a "Brotherhood in Purgatory".

In the 18th century, the clergy and the government of Palmi strove due to the fact the church changed into increased to a collegiate church. On 25 August 1741 the Bishop of Miletus Marcello Filomarini, erected 's "illustrious collegiate Palmi", having acquired from Pope Benedict XIII papal bull. The church, which became rebuilt within the period 1740–1743, changed into destroyed by way of the 1783 Calabrian earthquakes. In March 1786 the church was rebuilt.
