About Cairate
Cairate is an Italian town of 7,769 inhabitants within the province of Varese in Lombardy. The toponym Cairate might be of Long bard derivation, because of the geological meanings of peak and phytomorphs of walnut or chestnut. The inhabited middle became founded by the Lombard of which two epigraphs had been discovered one walled inside the church of Chiesa di San Martino and the opposite on the steps of a staircase of the monastery.
The city, given its strategic role, increased its significance at some stage in the barbarian invasion the Lombard in fact mounted a navy citadel, connected to the Castel Spiro cestrum through a road that runs alongside the valley and whose remains were determined in the close by Municipality of Fagnano Olona. The fort was a neuralgic node in the navy chessboard of Northern Italy for most of the center Ages. The Lombard themselves, particularly the Abbess Manigunda, contributed drastically to the monetary and political improvement of the village. Cairate became part of the Contado Del Seprio all through the overdue center Ages till 1287.
