About Urja Mosque

Situated in the Kavaratti islands is the popular pilgrimage spot, the Urja Mosque. It is built towards the south eastern part of the Island.

The mosque dates back to the 17th century when it was constructed by Qasim Muhammad Sheikh. The grave of Muhammad Sheikh is inside the mosque, in the prayer hall. The mosque has beautiful wooden carved pillars and ceilings.
