About Thayumanaswami Temple

Thayumana Temple is a Hindu sanctuary devoted to Lord Shiva situated at Rockfort sanctuary complex in the city of Tiruchirappalli in Trichy District of Tamilnadu. The sanctuary is arranged near the base of the Rockfort and was built by the Pallava lord Mahendraman I in the sixth century AD. Mother is known as Mattu Kuzhali or Sugandha Kundalambikai.

The Rockfort sanctuary complex has three altars, two of which are committed to Lord Ganesha, one at the foot and the Ucchi Pillayar Temple at the best, and the Thayumana Temple between them. The Thayumana sanctuary is the biggest of the three sanctuaries.
