About Stone Doors

The Stone Doors in Hampi are an impressive pair of monolith doors that were as soon as a part of one of the entrances of the Royal Enclosure in Hampi. The stone doors are one of the outstanding remnants of the Vijayanagara duration that can be visible many of the ruins in Hampi. Though the huge doors are no longer connected to any shape and aren't purposeful in any manner, they do not fail to capture the interest of the traffic. The stone doors in Hampi had been a part of the Royal Enclosure. The enclosure became a fortified area that changed into once the middle of the Vijayanagara Empire.
It was an area where the royal own family of Vijayanagara used to stay. Spread over a big vicinity of 49,000 square metres, the Royal Enclosure turned into a nicely-guarded and secured location. The double-wall protected area had 3 entrances. Two of these entrances had been at the northern facet at the same time as one was on the western aspect of the enclosure. It is believed that each entrance had big doors to provide safety to the vicinity. One of the entrances at the northern aspect is placed near the Mahanavami Dibba platform. The stone doorways are speculated to be a part of this entrance.
