About St. Philomena Church

Recognized as one of asia’s largest church St Philomena’s church will never leave you disappointed in terms of architectural style and beauty. This was constructed to pay a tribute to Saint Philomena- from which this place has derived this name.

This massive church took around 8 years to complete and it is said that the remains of the saint are preserved in here. Talking about Saint Philomena, she was said to be a beauty. Desendent of the monarch of Greece, she was a firm devotee of god.

Later when she turned 13, she was taken to meet the emperor. Upon seeing her beauty the emperor proposed her. When she declined the offer she was executed. Well apart from the sad/ tragic ending, this masterpiece is a must place to visit!
