Parassinikkadavu is a small scenic town, situated at a distance of 16 kilometers from Kannur. The popular tourist attractions in town are the Muthappan Temple and Parassinikkadavu Snake Park.
The Muthappan Temple is dedicated to Sree Muthappan. It is believed to be a manifestation of Lord Shiva. The interesting feature of the temple is its nature of worship. The worship ritual consists of a traditional dance known as Muthappan Theyyam. The customary offerings made to the deity are fish, meat and toddy. The annual festival held here is attended by a large number of devotees.
The Parassinikkadavu Snake Park houses a wide variety of snakes. The total number of species is believed to be 150. The main attractions are the King cobra, Russell's viper, Krait and Pit Viper. A research laboratory set here works to extract venom. It is also home to non-poisonous Pythons.
