Molangur Fort is situated at Molangur in Karimnagar District of Telangana. The fortification is built on a tremendous rock slope that made it troublesome for anyone to climb it from any side. While in transit to the highest point of the slope, an engraving cut on a rock specifies that there are two approaches to the fortress. At the passageway of the fortification there is a Dargah of Molang Shah Wali, a muslim holy person.
It is accounted for that the first name of the town was Mudugar. It seems to have been renamed as Molangur after the name of the Muslim holy person Molang Shah Wali. The Molangur stronghold was built on a hillock by Voragiri Moggaraju, one of the main officers of Prathapa Rudra of Kakatiya line.
