Karnal Lake

Karnal Lake is the most famous tourist attraction in the city of Karnal. A scenic spot, the lake has its unique mythological significance. It is named after Karna, the son of Kunti in Mahabharata.

According to legends, King Karna used to bathe in the lake. He also distributed alms to the poor and needy. It was here that Karna gave away his protective armor to Indra. The city of Karnal is said to have got its name from the Karnal Lake.

The lake is a perfect picnic spot. Visitors can enjoy boating in the blue waters of the lake. The lakeside is perfect for long walks and picnics. It is particularly beautiful during sunrise and sunset. A small island has been formed at the middle of the lake. Birds frequent the island. It also lends itself to a panoramic view of the lake.
