Kalpavriksha is considered as one of the oldest trees in the country and is believed to be around 1,200 years old. According to folklore, Adi Guru Shri Sankaracharya used this spot for meditation. The circumference of the Kalpavriksha has been calculated to be around 21.5 m. Tourists can also visit the cave, where the saint resided, near the Kalpavriksha.
Inside the temple is Shiva Linga and during Puja milk/water is offered that flows out of the temple through drain. It is believed that one should not cross the drain while fluid is flowing through it (that is offered to Lord Shiva) and hence one is not supposed to do parikrama of the temple and should return back from drain location.
