The Damsung Fort is a popular tourist spot in Sillerygaon. The ancient fort, built in 1690 stands today with the honour of being the last home of the Lepcha king- Gyabo Achuk. When the Lepchas lost the fort to the Bhutanese who again lost the fort to the British after the anglo-Bhutan war of 1864, all that remained of it are the ruins, which can be explored today. The earthquake of 2012 destroyed it further.
The ruins of the fort are majestic in their own way. The ruins of the stables can be seen, where the horses drank water and the water source was where the queen took bath. One can do hiking and bird watching around the area and visit the Hanuman top which is a little beyond the fort to take a look at the sculpture of Hanuman.
