The objective of the venture is to help the Kakkayam Hydro electric power venture and fulfill the interest for water system and savoring water a district known to have water deficiencies in occasional dry periods. Banasura Dam, which appropriates the Karamanathodu tributary of the Kabini River, is a piece of the Indian Banasurasagar Project comprising of a dam and a waterway venture began in 1979.
In the dam's supply there is an arrangement of islands that were shaped when the repository submerged the encompassing zones. The islands with the Banasura slopes out of sight give a terrific view. It is the biggest earth dam in India and the second biggest of its kind in Asia. The dam is comprised of enormous piles of stones and rocks.
