Beauty of Assam is at its best during Bihu festival. Away from the bars of class and caste, Bihu is a festival absolutely free from individual’s religion and is celebrated by all sundry. There are three such festivals in Assam: in the months of April, January, and October.
The significance of of Bihu festival is more in villages, where farmers go to their respective fields and lights “sky lamp” hanging from tall banboo to ward off pests and other insects. And all the bihu of the year are of great enjoyment, marking the arrival of spring season.
