Adyar

Adyar or Adayar is a substantial neighborhood in south Chennai once in the past Madras, Tamil Nadu, India. It is situated on the southern banks of the Adyar River. It is limited by the Buckingham Canal toward the west, Tiruvanmiyur toward the south, and Besant Nagar toward the east. Adyar is one of the costliest regions in Chennai with property estimations four times the estimation of comparative measured properties in the northern piece of Chennai.

Adyar began to develop quickly at the turn of the twentieth century following the establishing of the home office of the Theosophical Society by Mrs. Helena Blavatsky here in 1883. Following the foundation of the Theosophical Society home office, the Kalakshetra, a social association to advance conventional expressions and culture was set up by Rukmini Devi Arundale at Adyar.

The Theosophical Society, is headquartered in Adyar. The grounds, situated on the south bank of the Adyar waterway gives a quiet domain to calm examination on similar religion.
