Encs

Encs is a small city in Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen county, the middle of the district of Encsi. There was a settlement already six thousand years ago in Encs. After the founding of the state it became a part of Ujvar county. The first written mention of it comes from Hensy 1219. In the 14th century it turned into part of the citadel castle. The settlement started out to expand within the 16th century. After the autumn of Eger, the Turks did no longer spare the people dwelling right here.
