About Ajka
Ajka is a town in Hungary with approximately 35,000 inhabitants. It is located inside the hills of Bakony. Around a thousand BCE the vicinity become inhabited via Celts. By the 2nd century CE the territory become conquered by the Romans. The Hungarians occupied the region within the early tenth century. The village Ajka turned into named after the Ajka extended family, which, in turn, were given its call after its ancestor, a knight named Heiko who was a member of the retinue of Gisela, Princess of Bavaria, wife of King St. Stephen within the early eleventh century.
The village itself was first cited in 1214 while it became already about one hundred years old. The village advanced slowly in the course of the next few centuries. Real prosperity got here handiest within the 2d 1/2 of the nineteenth century while coal sources have been discovered nearby. In the 1930s good sized bauxite assets have been discovered too. In 1937 the sector's first krypton manufacturing facility was constructed close to Ajka.
