Capitolio Nacional

Capitolio Nacional is on the southern side of the square stands this neoclassical seat of Congress. It was started in 1847, yet because of ious political uprisings was not finished until 1926.

The working, of Ionic, Neoclassical and Renaissance impact, is made of light stone and a few ages of carvers were shaped in its development. Its front is basic and comprises a progression of striated Ionic segments masterminded in 3 lines of 6 segments.

The focal piece is involved in the Elliptical Hall, meeting spot of the Congress, on the wings are the thoughts rooms of the House of Representatives and the Senate of the Republic.

In its internal yards are the busts of the Presidents of the Republic, General Tomás Cipriano de Mosquera and Rafael Núñez, creator of the verses of the National Anthem.
