Mt Roosevelt Monument

Mount Theodore Roosevelt Monument, otherwise called the Roosevelt Friendship Monument or Friendship Tower, situated operating at a profit Hills National Forest on the edges of Deadwood, Lawrence County, South Dakota, is a 31-foot stone tower, including the six-foot-high stage, regarding Theodore Roosevelt. Theodore Roosevelt was a representative sheriff in Medora, North Dakota in 1884. While searching for a gathering of steed criminals he got together with Seth Bullock who was the Sheriff of Deadwood. The two wound up long lasting companions and when Roosevelt passed on Bullock needed to erect a landmark for his companion.
The Society of the Black Hills Pioneers gave budgetary help to assemble a pinnacle and it was devoted on July 4, 1919. In 1966, the Society gave the Tower to the United States Forest Service. In 2010 a reclamation venture was finished that included establishment adjustment and stone repair. Stairs were added paving the way to the stage and handrails on the stairs and the stage. The undertaking was financed by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
