John Wornall House Museum
About John Wornall House Museum
The John Wornall House is one of only a handful few surviving prior to the war houses in the Kansas City territory and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Wornall manufactured the house in 1858, on his 500-section of land cultivate. It filled in as family home for more than 100 years previously being reestablished to its mid-nineteenth century style and opened as a historical center. Today, the Wornall property would have spread over north-south from 59th to 67th roads, and east-west from Main Street to State Line. The house faces west, watching out finished Wornall Road, named for John in the beginning of Kansas City.
The Wornall house was raised around 200 feet east of the first residence, which was a basic one-story log lodge. The Wornall family obtained the land in 1843. John Wornall made his living pitching his products to wagon trains traveling west on the Santa Fe and Oregon Trails. A bit of the Santa Fe Trail took after the present way of Wornall Road and would have passed specifically before the house. The outline of the Wornall house communicated John's situation in the group. The expansive Greek segments and strong block development showed his riches and in addition giving asylum to his family. Wiley Britton, a young fellow procured to help manufacture the block farmhouse, reviewed that Wornall had been living in a considerable casing house yet wanted to fabricate "the most self important house in that segment."
