About Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society

The Pan-American Building, initially called the New York State Building, was opened on July 1, 1901, and served to welcome numerous recognized visitors of the Pan-American Festival, which conveyed eight million individuals to Buffalo from May to November of 1901. Today, the Historical Society still invites visitors to our city.

It has an extensive iety of shows and has a broad accumulation of recorded curios, including War of 1812 outfits, Grover Cleveland's wedding cake box, and the gun used to murder President William McKinley. Curiously, previous President Millard Fillmore was one of the founders.The Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society is situated at 25 Nottingham Court, Buffalo, NY 14216-3199, and its exhibition hall can be reached at 873-9644.
