About Bents Old Fort National Historic Site
In 1833, siblings William and Charles Bent and Ceran St. Vrain constructed an exchanging post on the Santa Fe Trail that drove from Missouri to Mexico. The post was worked to empower hide exchange between pilgrims, voyagers, and the Arapaho and Cheyenne Indians, who came gently to trade bison robes for different merchandise.
Bowed's Old Fort had a vital auxiliary part as the main changeless settlement on the Santa Fe Trail, and it was a boon for voyagers and officers who could stop for repairs, recharge their provisions, and appreciate great nourishment, water, and friends. Catastrophe and ailment shut the stronghold in 1849; remaking started in 1876, and guided voyages through the post are an unquestionable requirement for families and history buffs.
