About Alabama State Capitol

Barely a century later, the 1965 Selma to Montgomery Voting Rights March drove by the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., finished in the city before the Capitol.

In 1960 the United States Secretary of the Interior assigned the Capitol as a National Historic Landmark. Starting in the 1970s, the Alabama Historical Commission directed a noteworthy reclamation and remodel exertion. The vast majority of this work was done in 1992, yet endeavors to reestablish and improve the verifiable character of the building are continuous. The Alabama State Capitol is a memorable property of the Alabama Historical Commission.
