Scott's Grotto in Ware, Hertfordshire is a Grade I recorded building and the biggest cavern in the United Kingdom. The encompassing patio nurseries and structures are Grade II recorded. The cave is set into the upper east face of a slope, and contains a passageway corridor and a progression of six chambers stretching out more than 65 feet 20 m into and 30 feet 9.1 m beneath the chalk slope, together with ventilation ducts, light wells and interfacing entries.
The chambers are adorned with shells, stones, for example, rock and fossils, and shaded glass. An arrangement attracted 1900 considers the six chambers the "Board Chamber" and littler loads to one side of the passageway are named the "Advisory group Room No 2" a square load with specialties and the "Refreshments Room"; on the centreline, associated by a ventilation duct, are the "Counseling Room", the "Council Room", and the "Robing Room".
The cave was once in the past in the garden of Amwell House. Its development may have taken quite a while and was finished by John Scott, an 18th century Quaker writer who acquired Amwell House from his dad in 1768. Scott additionally had other sentimental highlights worked in his garden, including an octagonal gazebo on the slope above. Scott kept a book which records 3,000 guests from 1779 to 1787.
