About Loughton
Loughton is a town and common ward in the Epping Forest District of Essex and, for measurable purposes, some portion of the metropolitan region of London and the Greater London Urban Area. It is situated somewhere in the range of 11 and 13 miles 21 km north east of Charing Cross in London, south of the M25 and west of the M11 motorway and has limits with Chingford, Waltham Abbey, Theydon Bois, Chigwell and Buckhurst Hill. Loughton incorporates three protection regions and there are 56 recorded structures in the town, together with a further 50 that are privately recorded.
The ward of Loughton covers a zone of around 3,724 sections of land 15 km2, of which more than 1,300 sections of land 5 km2 are a piece of Epping Forest. The old ward contained more than 3,900 sections of land 16 km2, yet in 1996 a few sections of the south of the old area were exchanged to Buckhurst Hill ward, and other little parts to Chigwell and Theydon Bois. At the season of the 2001 registration Loughton had a populace of 30,340, and at the 2011 Census, 31,106. It is the most crowded common ward in the Epping Forest locale, and inside Essex it is the second most crowded common area after Canvey Island and the second biggest in the zone.
