Church of St Mary The Virgin

Cover Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin is situated at the most astounding point in the town focus. In spite of the fact that the present building is Victorian there has been a congregation on the site for more than 1,000 years: in medieval circumstances, the west entryway would have watched out over the commercial center to the castle.The steeple pre-dates the congregation, having been worked in 1842.

The congregation was planned a couple of years after the fact by J S Crowther on a substantially more fabulous scale and, with the nave now higher than the base of the tower, the two were shrewdly joined by the expansion of a narthex. This now houses a bistro and Christian bookshop open when the congregation is, on five days every week. The exceedingly enlivening mosaic floor is by Minton. The present church was blessed on second February 1876, having taken 5 years to assemble.
