About Elazig
Elazig is a city in Eastern Anatolia, Turkey and the managerial focal point of Elazig Province. It is situated in the highest Euphrates valley. The plain on which the city broadens has an elevation of 1067 meters. Elazig looks like an inland landmass encompassed by the normal Lake Hazar and repositories of Keban Dam, Karakaya Dam, Kiralkizi and Ozluce. Elazig at first created in 1834 as an augmentation of the notable city of Harput, which was arranged on a slope and hard to access in winter. The city of Elazig was established among the skirts of the slope on which the authentic Harput Castle was developed. As indicated by the present verifiable sources, the most antiquated occupants of Harput was the Hurrian country who settled in these parts in 2000 B.C. Harput, and its encompassing district was a piece of the kingdom of Urartu at the time of its greatest extension.
The antiquated town and fortification called Kharput Kharpert, which signifies "rough stronghold" in Armenian, was worked by the principal Armenian rulers around five km 3.1 miles from present day Elazig. In any case, next to no composed material about this city achieved our day. It is possible that Harput remains on or is close to the site of Carcathio-certa in Sophene, come to by Corbulo in A.D. 65. The early Muslim geographers knew it as Ḥiṣn Ziyad, yet the Armenian name, Khartabirt or Kharbirt, whence Kharput and Harput, was for the most part received in time.
