About Agin
Agin is a town and area of Elazig Province of Turkey. The chairman is Yılmaz Serttaş Nationalist Movement Party MHP. The number of inhabitants in the town is 1844 starting at 2010. The city of Agin was at first established by Armenians who had moved there from Iran. In 1896, the city was equally partitioned among Muslims and Armenians. The city was perceived for its riches and had beforehand gotten away from the 1895-1896 Hamidian slaughters through a payoff installment by the Armenians of 1500 Turkish gold pounds.
On September 15, 1896, three weeks after the attack of the Ottoman Bank by Armenian Dashnaks as a reaction to the Hamidian slaughters, Turkish specialists sorted out another slaughter in the city of Agin. Hassock troops murdered "upwards of 2000 Armenians" including "numerous ladies and youngsters" as per a report by the French Ambassador.
