About Museum of art and history

The Museum of art and history is a museum in the town of Fribourg in Switzerland. It is now kept in two main buildings - 16th Century Hotel Retza and a former slaughterhouse - connected by both side of Rue Mo Morat and an underground passage. The arrangement of its galleries is a redesign in 1981. It consists mainly of sculptures, paintings and ornamental artworks from the medieval era to present day as well as the 17th and 18th century historic towns.

It includes a glass-working gallery and a gallery dedicated to sculptor Adele d'Affry. Africa was born in Freiburg and was the eldest daughter of Cowl Louis DeFree 1810-1841 and Lucie Malardos 1816-1897, who was the daughter of Phillip Marquis of Mylardos. D'free had a military family: Louis DeFree 1743-1810, his great-grandfather, was the first landman in Switzerland. Louise-Ageste Augustin counts himself to Africa, Adel's great-grandfather, dedicating himself to engraving and documenting military life.
